BERTRAM SWEEPS THE BERTRAM-HATTERAS SHOOTOUT XXX
After a week of tough competition on the water, Bertram took home top honors in all divisions at the 30th annual Bertram/Hatteras Shootout. The fleet consisted of 26 boats from 41 to 80 feet and most were seasoned Shootout veterans. Bertram scored a total of 1500 points with 12 boats and Hatteras scored 1100 points with 14 boats. In the end, Great White Too, a 630 Bertram Enclosed Bridge owned by Guillermo Belloso, in their first Shootout took them all by releasing 1 Spearfish, 1 Blue Marlin, and 1 White Marlin. That trio of releases was enough to land first place overall and the daily first place on day one and two. Placing third overall with two White Marlin releases was Certifiable, a 700 Bertram owned by Syd Sussman.
The Shootout has typically been an all release billfish tournament, but this year the tournament committee decided to shake things up a bit and introduce a fun fish division. Each day hundreds of pounds of Dolphin, Wahoo, and Tuna were weighted in. The winning 111 lbs Yellow Fin Tuna was brought to the dock by Allied Marines own Gary Goldman fishing on Shark Bait, a 630 Bertram Open Bridge owned by Captain Paul Cole.
Both Bertram and Hatteras teams along with Allied Marine and Marine Max took the 30th anniversary Bertram-Hatteras Shootout to a whole new level making it a memorable event for everyone. We look forward to defending our title at next years Bertram-Hatteras Shootout.
