Bertram Yachts Unveils New Bertram 61 Convertible at the
Newport International Boat Show
TAMPA, FLA. – SEPTEMBER 11, 2018 — Bertram Yachts will debut its new 61 convertible at the Newport International Boat Show, September 13-16.
The brand will introduce its newest and largest model, since industrialist and yachting enthusiast Beniamino Gavio, purchased the company in 2015. Based on the foundation of the 1980s Bertram 54, the new 61 features unprecedented naval architecture and cutting-edge build techniques. The new model will set the stage for the future of Bertram Yachts and its competitors.
“Bertram is navigating into the future on the standards of excellence and innovation set by my father,” said Morgan Bertram. “The boats we are building out of Tampa today are state-of-the-art in design, engineering, technology and materials, with innovation and craftsman unlike any other.”
Construction features an infused vinylester solid fiberglass hull bottom with Kevlar centerline and strake reinforcements. Full-load displacement is projected at 88,000 lbs. The innovative techniques used during the build process warrant the longevity and durability Bertram enthusiasts are familiar with. Advanced engineering allows for an 18-degree deadrise, 4’10” shallow draft and a 188 sq. ft cockpit.
Twin Caterpillar C32, 1900 MHP engines are projected to provide top-of-the-line performance and speed. A Seakeeper 16 gyro stabilizer and Propspeed coated running gear are just a few of the standard specifications that set this boat above the industry standard.
Designed and fully equipped for tournament sportfishing, the Bertram 61 also provides luxury accommodation for those looking for a fast and smooth ride for long distance adventures. The open galley/salon layout features a custom, frameless, near military-grade wraparound window, allowing a 360-degree view of the horizon. The three-stateroom floorplan, including a full-beam master, is optimized both for living space and abundant storage.
“In the spirit of Bertram’s relaunch, the salon wrap around windows are actually another great blast-from-the-past but done now using modern technology and virtually military grade glass. These windows are amazing,” says Thompson. “I can’t wait for everyone to see the view from inside a 61 Bertram.”
