A Capitan's tale of his delivery of a Bertram 450
Here we go again! Bertram shows why they are the leader in the sport fishing industry. The Bertram 450's handling in heavy seas and maneuverability is second to none. The most recent trip I was fortunate enough to entertain was an exciting run from Miami, FL to Clear Lake, TX. Our first experience was the Miami River where she showed that the importance of maneuvering in a close quarter situation and quick handling kept our gel coat nice and shiny (inbound cargo ship at the Brickell Ave. bridge),then we were able to open her up in Biscayne Bay. WHOA! Hang on to your hats, we are moving now. She exploded out of the water like a gazelle. Topping out at an amazing 34 kts "unbelievable"! As we left Marathon we had some figuring to do, and we decided to make the non stop Gulf crossing to Galveston. 10' seas, a dream in the making. To make a long story short breaking the jetties with 20 gallons of fuel was an exciting feeling!
