Herndon has quite an extensive background which has lead him to become a nationally recognized leader in the marine industry today. He was President of Hatteras Yachts from 1985 to 1996. Herndon also held various roles in executive management positions with top brands such as Palmer Johnson, Inc., Tiara Yachts, KCS International and most recently Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Southport Boat Works. He has also served on numerous boards and committees, including his position as Chairman of the National Association of Boat Manufacturers and past member of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of the National Marine Manufacturers Association.
Herndon studied business at High Point College and is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hills Executive Program. He served as Battery Commander in the Army National Guards 113th Artillery Division.
